Unfortunately it is the same here in Richmond Va, US as well as West Palm Beach Florida, US.
Is there ANYplace that actually values those well – built old houses? I currently own a 5 bedroom 3000 sq foot two story brick … and to heat it to 65 degrees F was only about $165 USD/mo. Aaand it STILL has the 1906 windows … so loose visitors think the house is haunted. But I’ve learned a bit installing Solar Panels for a living, so I’ve tightened up the leaks elsewhere and now its easy to heat. What’s the equivalent in NZ ?

Sorry I meant;I hope that NZ will start building dwellings designed for the local environment instead of colonial houses designed for the tropics in the deep south and no Aussie imitating Faux-Mediterranian styles in the delusion that we have a hot climate

I hope that NZ will start building dwellings designed for the tropics in the deep south and no Aussie imitating Faux-Mediterranian styles in the delusion that we have a hot climate (rather than the humble temperate climate most countries prosper in).

Sadly the property people have proved resilient against any sort of legal enforcement in the past 50 years
